dipping sauce for artichokes

• • • •

You will need:

  • Artichokes
  • Lemon
  • V8 (1 1/2 TBS)
  • Ranch dip packet (1 TBS)
  • Mayo (1/4 cup)
  • Large pot of water
  • Salt
  • Scissors
  • Serrated Knife

While you prepare the artichokes bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil.

Gather artichokes, serrated knife, and scissors.

Cut off the top inch of both artichokes. Trim as little off of the stem as possible. (The inside of the stem is edible)

With your scissors cut the spike off the top of each leaf. Then rinse under water.

Half a lemon and rub the tops and sides of artichokes to help prevent browning.

Place both artichokes in boiling water, cover with lid and set the timer for 30-45 min. Smaller artichokes like the ones pictured will take approximately 30….larger artichokes will take closer to 45 min.

(I used 2 artichokes but you can cook 1 or as many as your pot will hold)

While the artichokes cook make the dipping sauce.

Mix 1/4 cup Mayo with 1 1/2 TBS V8 and 1 TBS ranch seasoning  in bowl until combined. Taste and tweak if needed.

To eat pull off one leaf at a time, dip white fleshy bottom and pull through teeth to remove the soft, delicious portion of the petal. Discard remaining petal. Continue until all of the petals are removed. Then with your fingers or a spoon, scrape out and trash the inedible fuzzy part covering the artichoke heart. The remaining bottom of the artichoke is the heart, and the best part! Cut into pieces and dip into sauce to eat.

Hope you enjoy!

odo ban

Odoban is my jam…. I don’t know how I would function without it…. The absolute best multi-purpose product, hands down. You can use it as an air freshener and to eliminate pet, smoke, and mildew odors….It effectively controls and inhibits the growth of mold and mildew. Killing 99.99% of germs, it cleans, disinfects, sanitizes and deodorizes upholstery, bedding, bathrooms, floors and whatever else you can think of.

Are you guilty of leaving your clothes in the washing machine too long? Add a little bit when you rewash and never worry about stinky towels or clothes again.

It will freshen up carpet. Or you can spray it on your stripped mattress the next time you wash your sheets.

I also spray my trash can, because we all know those can get nasty.

It eliminates odor without leaving a strong after smell…And it actually ELIMINATES odors instead of trying to cover them up.

pumpkin patch

• • • •

This post is a month (+) over due… (most pumpkin patches are already done/closed for the season) but it was my first time and I want to remember it! (Blogging is basically my new scrap booking)

We went to the Meyer pumpkin patch between Dalhart and Stratford, TX. It is located on a family farm in the middle of an irrigated corn field! (There was a corn maze available but we did not walk through it) It was super windy the day we went but we had a lot of fun. They give you your own 4-wheeler and trailer and let you go explore. Meyers grew all the good stuff – both white and orange pumpkins and all kinds of gourds – in all sizes!

We picked out our favorites and decorated our home. I love pumpkins….I see a lot of people already decorating for Christmas but I’m holding onto them as long as possible.
